|
For immediate release, 16 June 2008. Local radio station Whitchurch FM will be back on air from the 23rd to the 31st August, featuring a Battle of the Bands on Bank Holiday Monday, showcasing the very best of North Shropshire’s musical talent live on air throughout the afternoon. For the best in local music, forget about X-Factor and Pop Idol and get along to the Dodington Lodge Hotel between 12 noon and 6pm to support your favourite local band. As well as the Battle of the Bands, the nine-day broadcast will be full of music, local news, interviews and outside broadcasts from in and around Whitchurch. Maggie White, press officer for the radio station, commented, “As the radio station is run solely by volunteers, it will require a tremendous effort from all of them to ensure that Whitchurch receives a first class broadcast for the whole nine days that we are on air. The broadcast is financed by donations and sponsorship from local businesses, and with many new presenters, as well as your favourite regulars, the station now has more than 25 staff, all of whom are members of the local community. The station is always looking for enthusiastic volunteers, so whether you want to work behind the scenes or try your hand at presenting, you can find a lot more about joining the group on their website www.whitchurchfm.com. The aim of the broadcast is to bring the community together through the interactive medium of radio and the station hopes to provide a platform where the issues in the town can be discussed.
