For immediate release, 1 September 2006. Local radio station Whitchurch FM is back on air from 23 September to 1 October 2006 with a full nine days of music, local news, interviews and outside broadcasts in and around Whitchurch.

Broadcasting on 87.9FM, it all kicks off in style from 6am on the Saturday morning with Ben and Sean’s Breakfast Show, and then the Whitchurch FM Roadshow  moves outdoors from 10.00–14.00 at Victoria Garage, who are celebrating 50 years of business in the town. At the roadshow there will be a competition to win a BMW Z3 convertible sports car, as well as burgers and a bouncy castle for the children and lots of music – come along, have fun and meet the presenters.

Maggie White, Press Officer for Whitchurch FM and one of the presenters, said “This whole broadcast period is being sponsored by many of the businesses in Whitchurch who have taken advertising slots. We will discuss all the local issues and points of interest aiming to bring the community together and promote Whitchurch with all that the town has to offer. Proceeds from the win-a-car competition will go to Whitchurch Hospital, so we are hoping to see many of the people of the town and from the surrounding villages. This is a wonderful chance to win a fabulous car and we thank Victoria Garage for their very generous offer.

“There will be outside broadcasts from around the town, with many of the presenters interviewing not only the businesses of Whitchurch but also the residents. The radio station is run purely by volunteers and now has more than 20 presenters as well as six technical staff. The broadcast runs for nine days from the 23 September until 1 October 2006 and will require a tremendous effort from all of our volunteers to ensure that Whitchurch receives a first-class broadcast.”
