| Runaway success for Whitchurch FM |
|
For immediate release, 3 October 2006. Local radio station Whitchurch FM has now completed its broadcast for this year, and has pronounced it a runaway success. During nine hectic days of non-stop broadcasting from the Dodington Lodge Hotel, the station transmitted a wide-ranging mix of interviews, outside broadcasts, competitions and music. Celebrity interviewees included Sandy Lyle, in town to open the new Hill Valley complex, Gervase Phinn, well-known author and raconteur, and Whitchurch’s very own celebrity vet Steve Leonard, who told of his recent experiences of filming in Borneo for the BBC. Maggie White, Press Officer for Whitchurch FM and one of the presenters, said “Right from the very first moment we came on air, the response and support from the people and businesses in Whitchurch has been outstanding. As well as our team of regular presenters, we were delighted to introduce several new members of the group to the microphone. We managed to successfully complete nearly 30 outside broadcasts and interviews on all the local issues and points of interest with local personalities and residents of the town. “We must not, however, let success go to our heads – we are already planning our next broadcast, which hopefully will be in Spring next year. By then we will need more volunteers to help run the station and studio, so if anyone in Whitchurch is interested, please contact us through our website, www.whitchurchfm.co.uk, or telephone 01939 220537 for further details.” |
