Whitchurch FM on air 5–12 June 2010

For immediate release, 31 May 2010. Community radio station Whitchurch FM will be hitting the airways again for a nine-day broadcast, starting on Saturday 5th June 2010.

The broadcast will launch with Kev B's Breakfast Show live from the station’s state-of-the-art studio at the Dodington Lodge Hotel. Saturday 5th June will also see the inaugural Wonders of Whitchurch (WOW) Festival, and the Whitchurch FM team will be out and about around the town, broadcasting live from the various festival locations during the day, including the main festival stage in the Bull Ring.

The broadcast promises to be a mixture of local news, information, informative (and sometimes not so informative!) chat, and a great mix of music from the 1950s to present day, including specialist shows on stage musicals, classical, country, metal and more. On the first Sunday Whitchurch FM will also be broadcasting live from St Alkmund’s Church for the 10am family communion; this has become an important tradition in the life of the station. Sadly, long-standing Whitchurch FM presenters Alan and Maggie White have moved overseas. This means the station has had a change round of its daytime shows, including Andy Hall moving from drivetime to take over the hot seat of mid-morning music and chat, and Mystic Maria from the Jason Wainwright show, better known as Maria Lea, launching her own afternoon show. Maria's show will be lots of chat and occasionally music – if she pauses for breath long enough for her producer to play a track!

Whitchurch FM can be contacted now via the website www.whitchurchfm.com or by post care of the Dodington Lodge Hotel. The station will broadcast 24 hours a day on 87.9FM. If you would like to advertise on the station please get in touch via the website.
